Telecom for Change raises nearly $800K for grassroots charities

April 23, 2019 | 0 Comments

This month, Telecom for Change held it’s 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Bali Hai in Las Vegas. As we presented a check for $30,000 to Compassion Planet, I was reminded once again of how a few people can make such a big impact in the world.

To date, you all have helped us raise just shy of $800,000 for more than a dozen grassroots charities across the country. With your support, we’ve written checks to the following organizations:

  • Raintree House
  • Safe Nest
  • UMC Foundation
  • Notre Dame of Maryland University: School of Nursing
  • Eden House
  • Friends of the Monmouth County Child Advocacy Center
  • Sonoma Children’s Village
  • Ohio State University’s Cancer Research Fund
  • Fisher House Boston
  • James Island Arts Council
  • The Ashley Lauren Foundation
  • Napa CASA & CASA of Monterey

However, our impact isn’t limited to just signing an oversized check. Perhaps even more importantly, we have directly supported disaster victims affected by hurricanes and wildfires in California, Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico. The generous members of this industry have helped us donate:

  • Over 500 sheets of drywall
  • 600 blankets
  • 125 generators
  • Drywall mud, tape, and nails
  • Paint
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Temporary housing
  • Tents and cots
  • Coats and clothing
  • Baby food, formula, and diapers

The bottom line is that Telecom for Change, our event sponsors and attendees, and others in the industry are there to assist when the need arises. In this industry, we work hard, we play hard, and we come together to make a difference in the lives of others. The impact we’ve made over the past few years is amazing, and we are thankful to all of those organizations and individuals who have opened their hearts and wallets to help the overlooked and underfunded local charities we support.
